Hi, I’m Wendy Wheeler. I’ve been married to my husband, Ira, for over 21 years. We’ve been blessed with two amazing children. Our oldest, Ben, is a Class of ‘22 “Lincoln Lifer.” He’s now a sophomore at OSU, pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Go Pokes! Our youngest, Grace, is a sophomore at Lincoln. She’s prayerfully considering going into missions after graduating. Go Jesus!
In 1999, I graduated from Northeastern State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education. I spent my first 8 years of teaching at John Burroughs Elementary in Tulsa. When Ira and I started our family in 2003, we hoped and prayed that we would be able to send our children to LCS some day. I was able to “retire” in 2007 when Ben was still a toddler and we found out we were expecting Grace. God answered my prayers to be a stay at home mom for 5 years. During my time at home, Ben started Kindergarten at Lincoln. We chose Lincoln because we love COTM and we wanted our children to be in a school where we knew they would be safe, loved and most importantly taught about Jesus in the same ways we were teaching them at home. The year we enrolled Grace in Pre-K, there were several openings in the Pre-K department. I got so excited! I loved what I had seen from the parent side of the school. I saw teachers who were happy, professional, and that loved Jesus. I watched them challenge Ben and help him grow in his faith. I wanted to be a part of a school where I could truly partner with families in their children’s educational journey and be surrounded by like-minded educators. I thought it would be so amazing to have the opportunity to teach at the same school my children attended. In fact, the way God worked it all out, Grace was in my first Pre-K class at Lincoln! I’ve been at LCS for 12 years now. This year is special to me because it marks my 20th year of doing what I love, being a Pre-K teacher! Go Bulldogs!
